Silence could have saved me...

I volunteered to lead a bootcamp class with 3 others at a local church this past weekend.  We all introduced ourselves and I was proud to share that I am a fitness professional, as the others had careers in other fields.  This is a fairly new event at the church and unfortunately no one showed up for the class, so the 4 of us took turns leading exercises for the groups.  Two of the others were very athletic males guiding us through some exercises that I would not usually do for myself or my clients because of the intensity and risk of injury.  I quickly regretted announcing that I was a personal trainer, because my ego would now need to prove just how fit I am!  Me and my big mouth....

Needless to say, my body is sore in places that I haven't felt in a long time!  Of course I was careful about my form and took breaks when needed.  But, I certainly pushed myself harder than I usually would.  And of course I found my own way to "re-pay" those 2 guys the favor with some of my own creative core exercises!

Changing your fitness routine will usually alter the way that your body responds.  I can scale a 50 foot rock wall with no problem & hold on to a rope behind a boat all day long, but ask me to do 5 variations of push ups for 10 minutes and hear me whine!

Aside from the humor of this ol' fitness professional getting her butt kicked, remember to be careful when attending fitness classes outside of a gym with uncertified personal trainers.  Always listen to your body and take breaks.  Or you will be in the bath tub all day Sunday acheing all over like this "fit" girl is today...
